Danit & Candace: A Day to Remember

Type: Wedding
Location and Venue: Temple Judea- Tarzana, CA
Videographer: Kelly Murray

Every once in a while, an opportunity comes along that is truly inspiring and thought provoking. Being able to shoot the wedding of Candace and Danit was one of those times. When we initially met with these two ladies, I was so excited to be able to work with them. I was excited because I love weddings, and I was excited because they would be the first same-sex couple that I would be working with.

The wedding day itself was everything a wedding should be: peaceful, full of love, and inspiring. It was a traditional Jewish wedding (which I’ve had a lot of experience with) and took place at a temple in Los Angeles. One of my favorite moments of any wedding day is the “first look”- that moment when the bride & groom (or bride & bride in this case) see each other for the first time that day. The emotions and love between them is palpable and sets the tons for a beautiful ceremony.

I had such a good time getting to film these two ladies. They reminded me that no matter what, love conquers all.

There are some clients who come into your life & you forget that you just met.  This is how I feel about Diana and Ana.  I felt an instant connection with them, like we’ve been friends for a long time. They are both  so full of love and kindness it radiates off of them and touches you.  I don’t say this often, while all of our clients have a unique place in my heart, there are some that you can’t wait to see how they continue to grow as a family, and you start feeling really silly-spiritual, as in, “Did the Universe open itself up for us to meet?”

They decided to have a small elopement on a private residence in Laguna Beach.  There was a beautiful soft glow from the skies above, a gentle breeze and two women committing themselves to each other for infinity (and beyond!)

There is something incredibly special about being asked to capture a couple’s ceremony.  You feel incredibly honored that two people are placing the documentation of the day in your hands.  It’s humbling.   Right before a ceremony, big or small, there is always a sense of relief, nervousness and over abundance of happiness that always brings tears to my eyes.  Especially when you meet two people who are so perfect for one another, who are so kind, and funny and loving that you can feel that love in your own body–as if it is your own.  & it’s a wonderful reminder that LOVE is the most precious gift we have on this earth.
