Neighborhood Hiking Trail

Portrait Session – Goleta, CA
Subject – Adrian Sun
Photographer & Writer – Dannie Phan

This past weekend some of my camera gear got swapped around so that I ended up shooting with a friend’s camera rather than my own. It comes from the habit of sharing and lending equipment within your circle of friends. I have gotten into the habit of changing the photo settings around to best match my preference of a more desaturated, low contrast, and high sharpness for shooting.

The one setting that I forgot was to make sure that the images were checking to see the image format. Most of my friends shoot in RAW so I’ve never had this issue before, but over the weekend I began an impromptu photo session in JPEG.

NEVER AGAIN or at least I’ll try my best to avoid that.

On the brightside, this allowed me to really focus on just a handful of photos and spend a lot of time of them. I got to do a mini session with Adrian around his neighborhood in Goleta and here’s how they turned out:

An Afternoon at the Long Beach Museum of Art

Portrait Session – Long Beach, CA
Subject – Tiffany Le
Photographer & Writer – Dannie Phan

I was invited out by my friend Tiffany to join her on a trip to the Long Beach Museum of Art. We were specifically there for their exhibit of Masterworks: Defining A New Narrative featuring large scale paintings by accomplished artists, one of which is Tiffany’s professional idol. She was in need of a headshot for upcoming galleries and I was happy to provide.
